Howling Cactus: Independent Photography & Publishing03: Still can't turn to the left

China
2022
Publication
With Qingchen Yi
and  Yan

Howling Cactus is a spontaneous photography collective formed by Jasper Cao, Qingchen Yi, and Yan.
We have decided to regularly self-publish our photographic works as zines or photobooks.

In the third zine, we used blur and ambiguity to create a fluid viewing experience.
zine03: Still Can’t Turn Left is the fourth publication in the The Cactus Poets Are Howling series.
This time, the theme revolves around the Proust Questionnaire, exploring not only the questions themselves but also the authors behind them. By answering the questionnaire, we reflect on our own lives—using it as a way to examine and uncover ourselves.
Photographs become words to express poetry, allowing us to explore the self through both image and text.
